Surface Pro 10 for Business adds NFC for YubiKey support
In a first, the Microsoft Surface Pro 10 for Business adds NFC reader, works with the YubiKey.
I almost missed it, but the just-announced Microsoft Surface Pro 10 for business actually comes with a built-in NFC reader.

The Surface Pro 10 comes with:
- Powerful Intel Core Ultra 7 CPU
- Up to 64GB of DDR5 RAM.
- Up to 1TB of storage.
- 1440p webcam with 114Ā° field of view.
It goes on sale from 9 April with prices starting from S$1,617.
Don't expect to see it listed on Microsoft Store though; it'll be sold through business channels instead.
š”ļø Support NFC
The inclusion of an NFC reader means it can work with NFC security keys such as the YubiKey for passwordless authentication.
In fact:
- Microsoft designed this with Yubico.
- YubiKey works natively with Windows 11.
- Tap on the top left-hand corner to authenticate.
š Yubi-what?
For those wondering, the YubiKey is a standalone security dongle that delivers hardware-based authentication.
It is batteryless with no moving parts and works either by plugging into a USB port or via NFC.
I've previously shared how the YubiKey can be used to:
- Unlock your password manager.
- Authenticate Android smartphones.
- Secure cloud services such as AWS, Zapier etc.
- Login to Windows (By plugging it in).
Now, you can also tap to authenticate on the Surface Pro 10.
