Singtel has announced a partnership to bring its upcoming GPU offering to enterprises in Southeast Asia.

In a release today, Singtel says it is teaming up with Bridge Alliance to offer its GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS) in Southeast Asia.

Bridge Alliance is a business alliance of some 34 major telcos. The chairman of Bridge Alliance is Bill Chang, the CEO of Singtel's Nxera.

Coming later this year

Singtel says it will launch its GPUaaS later this year.

  • Will feature H100 GPUs at launch.
  • AIS, Maxis, and Telkomsel have expressed interest.
  • It'll be "among the first" to launch Nvidia's GB200 GPUs.

While Singtel has already made several announcements about its plans to offer GPUs, my understanding is its GPUaaS isn't available yet.

AI data centres

Singtel's latest announcement did contain an added nugget: A note that its GPUaaS offering will run on its AI-ready data centres in the region "from mid-2025 onwards".

The upcoming data centres are in:

  • Malaysia (Johor - 65MW)*.
  • Singapore (DC Tuas - 58MW).
  • Thailand (GSA Data Centre - 40MW).
  • Indonesia (PT TDI Data Centre - 50MW).

That's a lot of new high-density data centres coming live soon in Southeast Asia, even as Singtel gradually shuts down its oldest data centres in Singapore.

*Groundbreaking held last month; no publicly announced name yet.

Live GPU deployments

Of course, it is one thing to announce an upcoming service and another to have it already deployed and available.

As AI reaches a feverish pitch, one can't help but ponder if we are hurtling towards certain doom or a utopian society - I wrote about this topic over the weekend.

For now, here's what I know:

  • In Singapore, SMC has the largest number of H100 GPUs right now from its deployment at STT GDC's Loyang and MediaHub data centres.
  • I've also heard of a massive deployment of H100 GPUs numbering in the tens of thousands of units in Johor, though I cannot independently confirm it.

Know of other large H100 GPU deployments in the region? Drop me a note.
