Our presence is important. But what if you could have it all
Through a series of events starting with Good Friday, we gained both "present" and "presence".
Through a series of events starting with Good Friday, we gained both "present" and "presence".
I was looking at the latest illustration by Hanh Bui and reading her heart-warming story.
👥 Presence is better
Out of town for work, Hanh sought to purchase a hefty gift for her son's birthday that she missed.
However, a declined card threw a spanner into her plans; she flew back to Singapore empty-handed.
It turns out that some quality time at the neighbourhood playground filled their hearts more than any toy could.
I loved this simple, poignant story for highlighting the importance of quality time with our loved ones over material possessions.
💝 The unconditional gifts
But won't both present and presence be even better, I wondered idly.
And then it struck me. We did receive both.
- Present: The gift of eternal life through the resurrection of Christ on Easter.
- Presence: God leaving us with His Spirit on Pentecost, 50 days after the resurrection.
Both are unconditional and offered freely to all who believe and accept them.
Through these two monumental events, God bestowed upon us the ultimate gift and the most extraordinary companionship.
What are you reflecting on this Easter weekend?
