Here's how you can write better with AI
Without building an unhealthy dependency.
AI can supercharge your writing and help you write better - without building an unhealthy dependency.
This week, I shared how AI is changing the face of software development. Top developers are using AI to code faster, tackle mundane tasks, and even automate unit tests.
Writers can similarly benefit from AI. Here are 3 ways how I use AI to save time and get better.
- What's that word?
Cat got your tongue? AI is your friend to find that elusive word or phrase. Find it by:
- Describing the idiom or phrase.
- Asking for replacements for a word.
- Suggestions for a given description.
- Plough through blocks
Got stuck midway through a sentence or have problem getting started? AI can help.
- Have AI to fill in the blanks.
- Get it to complete your sentence.
- Generate some snippets for inspiration.
- Is this right?
Get closer to the finishing line by using AI as a second pair of eyes that's always available.
- Flag possible mistakes.
- Rewrite cumbersome sentences.
- Ask if a sentence could be written better.
Careful with it
Be careful about using too much AI-generated content - vanilla AI prose is easy to identify and tends to talk about the same things.
As an experienced writer, I’ve found that getting AI-generated copy up to scratch often takes more effort than writing it from... scratch.
PS: I'm considering penning more tips like the above, along with examples of prompts you can use. Is this something you would be interested in? Let me know!
