GovWare 2024 kicks off with 13,000 attendees
Complete with new t-shirts for cybersecurity teams.
It's Singapore International Cyber Week again. I dropped by GovWare 2024 and here's some Day 1 highlights that caught my attention.
Here are some highlights that caught my attention over at MBS today.
New year, new t-shirts
Being a CISO is hard, and Ian Monteiro wants every cyber leader to know that he cares when he wore this year's latest design on stage this afternoon.
- "Have you hugged your CISO today?"
Go grab yours before they run out - as they invariably do every year. Other options:
- Shoulder To WannaCry On.
- Oversight Committee Chair.
- IDS down? Snort my problem, Bro.
- Emotional Support Hooman; Tech Support Hooman.
PS: I still couldn't convince my wife to let me wear the one I got last year.
ViewQwest's SecurEmail Gateway
Securing email is tricky but ViewQwest's Vignesa Moorthy says he can help you score a perfect 100% in CSA's Hall of Fame with his new service.
It's a secure email gateway for one-stop upgrade (Change MX record, redirect outgoing emails) to a whole bunch of email best practices recommended by CSA.
Apparently, even Gmail and Office 365 offer around 72% to 80% as tested by CSA's online tool.
ST Engineering's IoT security
There are quite a few demos at ST Engineering's booth, but I'm impressed by its claims of being able to secure OT systems, including SCADA networks.
Not rocket science, but it's how they integrate various technologies together:
- Zero trust networking.
- Inspection of PLC commands.
- ML to detect unusual commands, values.
This isn't a commercial product by the way, but a showcase of ST Engineering's capabilities.
OCBC gets a booth
What's a bank doing with a booth at GovWare?
Turns out the OCBC cyber team is out in full force to give you an inside look into its cybersecurity strategy, roadmap, and how it engineers resilience into its systems.
And David Ng tells me he will be there himself on Wednesday. So don't say never jio.
