Do you use a water filtration system?
A water filtration system maker has been warned for misleading claims. When not all tech is beneficial.
A water filtration system maker has been warned for misleading claims. Is all tech beneficial?
The S'pore Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCCS) this week issued a warning to Purexygen over its marketing.
- Falsely said its filters were tested by testing bodies.
- Claimed its water prevents various health conditions.
- Misleading claims on health benefits of its water.
And some other dodgy marketing practices.
📱 Tech in Singapore
We love our technology in Singapore.
- We have our ERP & ERP 2.0: https://lnkd.in/gBYNjTPx
- There's SimplyGo (saga): https://lnkd.in/giSimpEF
- There's ChatGPT for maps: https://lnkd.in/geQk7M4W
But is all tech beneficial?
And does water filtration system actually offer better water quality?
🚰 Water systems
There was a Talking Point episode which explored the use of water filtration systems in Singapore.
In a nutshell:
- Singapore tap water is safe to drink.
- Is tested regularly and to high standards.
- Badly-maintained water systems can be worse.
In fact, some water filtration systems tested by the show actually were contaminated by bacteria growing on the infrequently changed filters. So it's not always better!
To be clear, I actually got a water dispenser system (with water filtration) when my first girl was born. But it was for the hot and lukewarm water - great for preparing milk!
Do you use a water filtration system at home, and can you think of any tech that's not necessarily beneficial?
Would love to hear your thoughts!
PS: I bumped into presenter Steven Chia at a media briefing earlier this month and actually asked him about the Talking Point episode! Guess what he told me.
